Collaborating with Google Suite Apps
Students will have hands-on learning experience on how to collaborate using different, free G Suite Apps, including Gmail, Google Forms, Google Calendar, a shared Google Drive, and how to work on shared documents (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.). This course will include a basic overview of all of the above-mentioned apps, as well as how to use these apps to facilitate collaborative projects. This course will benefit learners with limited experience with G Suite apps, who want to introduce virtual collaboration to their workplace. Virtual collaboration can be beneficial to a business in many ways, including enabling remote employees to collaborate more effectively, as well as connecting employees across different locations.

Students will begin with the basics of getting started on a computer, using built-in help functions, undoing mistakes, and understanding file extensions. They will also explore how to download and upload files, identify safe free software, understand the differences between open source and closed source programs, and work with PDF files. The course continues with setup and maintenance skills, including updating software, customizing desktop backgrounds, handling viruses, power cycling devices, managing startup applications, keeping older computers running smoothly, speeding up performance, defragmenting hard drives, and starting in safe mode. Finally, students will gain hands-on practice with installing and uninstalling software on both Windows and Mac systems. By the end, participants will be equipped with practical knowledge to operate, customize, and maintain their computers effectively.
